Itinerary for Central Mongolia-Navel Eight Lakes Tour



Day 1.     Kharkhorum ancient capital of Mongolia

Kharkhorin was built in 1235  by Ogodei Khaan , who was successor of Chingis Khaan. The foundations of Kharkhorin’s buildings are all underground and Erdene-Zuu Monastery was built to the south of  the  ancient capital ruins in 1586 We will visit the Erdenezuu monastery which contains valuable items that represent the Buddhist culture of Mongolia. Overnight in a ger camp​.



Day 2.   Orkhon Valley and Ulaan tsutgalan waterfall


We will visit Uurt gorge,  Orkhon river, and the Red waterfall in Orkhon valley.
The red waterfall is situated in the historically significant  Orkhon valley, whose river flows an incredible 1120 km to the north before it joins Selenge  river. Also called Ulaantsutgalan, the waterfall was formed by unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20000  years ago.  Overnight in a ger nearby the waterfall.



Day 3-6.   Start horseback riding "family to family" .

This morning we will start our horseback riding tour. After having breakfast, we will pack our staff on luggage horse  and ride to the 8 lakes. Our first day will be a trip to another local nomad family.  During the day we will be riding in great landscape of Orkhon with lava rocks, rivers and green steppe. The second day, we will continue riding to the lakes and will start exploring them one by one starting from Khuis lake. The eight lakes are considered one of the wildest and unspoiled travel destinations of Mongolia. The Shireet Lake is the biggest lake among the 8 lakes,  perfect for photo-shooting and camping overnight. We highly recommend this area for our customers who want to experience adventurous horseback riding. We will stay  at different families along the way. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). Also you can try Mongolian traditional dairy product in  family. You are able to see  the daily life of a genuine nomadic families.



   Day 7.   Hot spring (Hot spa)

Drive to the Hot Springs of Tsenher. The hot spring of Tsenher emerges at 86 degree Celcius. The spring consists of elements such as sulphur and calcium. We will relax in Hot spa for the whole day. It is a good treatment after a long horse-riding trip. Overnight in a ger camp.






    Day 8-9.   Great white lake and Khorgo Crater


The White lake is located in Tariat sum, a local administration unit which is a magnificent region of extinct volcanoes. Approximately 180km  north-west of Tsetserleg, The lake,20 km long, was formed when volcanic lava dammed the Suman River cutting a large gorge through the basalt. White lake is a great spot for bird watching! On the 9th day we will visit some caves and craters.Overnight in a ger camp.




Day 10.    Semi Gobi   


 Imagine a picture that consists of rocky mountains in the back, sand dunes extending on the right sand of the dunes, green trees in and aside the dunes, a river flowing along the dunes. That is what Semi-Gobi looks like. Relax in Semi-Gobi. Camel-riding. Overnight in a ger camp.


Day 11.   Driving  back to UB


Accommodation: nomadic family ger, tourist camp, camping    

   

Meal: B+L+D  Vegetarian food is available on your request 


Transportation: Russian van, jeeps and others
